During the Helsinki Design week 2008 we moved out design office for one day to the corner of Erottajankatu and Bulevardi.

The venue of the day depicted the core of our design philosophy - the merging of the city landscape and nature in the urban space. The hectic cross of Erottajankatu and Bulevardi and the neighbouring Esplanadi park formed visually interesting milieu, in which the built city and people with their daily routes created a unique and constantly changing atmosphere to the city.

During the work day we visualised the existing city space by using our prints. Asphalt was patterned with fresh leaves or trams coloured to tone with rails. The urban spaces had been photographed in that moment and the proposals for a more colourful city space were displayed as pictures in the Landscape Office as well as on the Fokus Fabrik website.

On the first weekend of September 2007 we built our home and office in the Esplanade park, right in the heart of Helsinki. During the daytime we worked there and met people who were interested in seeing designers at work. Later in the evening we chilled out at home with friends and had a great party. All the weekend the sun was shining and hundreds of people visited our home and office.

A combination of nature and pulsing urban life keeps on interesting us day after day, thus the location of our home was so perfect. Under the leafy trees of the park, in the center of the capital we were able to really feel the rhytm of urban life - the sunrise behind the Market Square, people, traffic in a rush hour, and the city getting ready for having fun later in the evening. Three days and nights in our home on the Espa Stage was the most inspiring experience of all!

Fokus Fabrik´s first design studio was located by the beautiful Porvoonjoki river. During the wintertime we dreamt about sunshine and swimming in the river. A few months later on September 2006 handprinted textile flyers were given out and some rafts were built. The performance was a success - the day was sunny and all in all perfect for our river performance. One of our future plans is to have an air performance...

In September 2006 we wanted to experience pulsing city life. The Espa Stage in Esplanadi Park in the middle of Helsinki offered perfect facilities and atmosphere to build an experimental exhibition. People were invited to rock in the swings made of Fokus Fabrik´s fabrics. The exhibition combined urban life with the park's calm and relaxing atmosphere of the park.

We were happy to launch the first collection of Fokus Fabrik in March 1 2006. Friends an a yellow rabbit were invited to Fokus Fabrik home party where the new patterns were exhibited for the first time. After two days of building up the exhibition and two even harder days of celebrating the Fokus Fabrik team was exhausted.
